Eurocode 3 – EN 1993-1-4 is an international standard defines the stainless steel fastener grades furthermore calculation method for the contruction of the steel structures.
This standard gives alternative procedures, values and recommendations with notes indicating where national choices may have to be made. The National Standard implementing EN 1993-1-4 should have a National Annex containing all Nationally Determined Parameters to be used for the design of steel structures to be constructed in the relevant country.
In this harmonized document has been reported many material grades usable for structural corrosion resistant fasteners divided by family: ferritic steels, austenitic steels, austenitic-ferritic steels (duplex and super duplex)
Annex A and B of EN 1993-1-4 includes all the information about the calculation of the right solution for the structure stainless steel fasteners possible by crossing the mechanical properties (yield “fy” and ultimate tensile strenght “fu“) also with the suggested grade for atmospheric application.
EN ISO 3506-1, EN ISO 3506-2 and EN ISO 3506-3 define the nominal minimum value of yield “fy” and “fu” by diameter including different property class from 50 to 80.
Some special process permit to reach tensile rupture values up to 1000 MPa (class 100).
