Designers often find themselves having to select the most suitable material to use for the creation of a fastening system, unable to find the right compromise that meets specific needs. The first phase for the choice is to define the main characteristics:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. mechanical strength<\/li>\n
  2. resistance to high or low temperatures<\/li>\n
  3. corrosion resistance<\/li>\n
  4. availability of the chosen material<\/li>\n
  5. final cost of the fastening system<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Said in these terms, the solution would seem simple, but the main problem appears to arise where the design conditions are not very clear or rather when the effects of temperature and corrosion compromise the mechanical resistance of the fastening system.<\/p>\n
