Titanium\u2019s low density and high strength-to-weight ratio make it the material of choice for many corrosive chemical environments, including oxidizing chloride solutions, seawater and chlorine-based bleaches.<\/p>\n<p>Titanium is strong and has a specific gravity of 4.5 g \/cm<sup>3<\/sup>, about halfway between aluminum and steel. Its strength to weight ratio made\u00a0it\u00a0absolutly an excellent choice for aircraft and ordnance where it was first introduced as a structural material. Titanium is now widely utilized in the space and chemical process industries; it is a reactive metal and depends on a protective film (TiO2) for corrosion resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Some applications:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Seawater and other chloride salt solutions<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Hypochlorite and wet chlorine<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Nitric acid, including fuming acids.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Salts such as FeCl<sub>3<\/sub>\u00a0and CuCl<sub>2<\/sub>, which tend to pit most other metals and alloys, actually inhibit corrosion of titanium. Titanium is highly resistant to aggressive waters, even more so than zirconium. It develops a tarnish film of TiO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0only after long-time exposure to steam at temperatures of approximately 400\u00b0C. Titanium is an excellent choice for heat-exchanger in seawater-cooled exchangers, provided that the process side is also compatible. Titanium is dangerosly attacked in red fuming nitric acid with high NO<sub>2<\/sub>\u00a0and low water content and also in dry halogen gases.<\/p>\n<p>Titanium alloy are finding increasingly widespread use in other industries due to their excellente properties. More recently, especially as the cost of titanium has fallen significantly, the alloys are finding greater use in other industry sectors, such as offshore, sea and subsea.<\/p>\n<p>Grade 2 and Grade 5 titanium are the best solution for fastener solutions.<\/p>\n<h4>TITANIUM GRADE 2<\/h4>\n<p>Grade 2 is the alloy of choice for most industrial applications that require good ductility and corrosion resistance. Typical applications for Grade 2 titanium include oil &amp; gas components, reaction and pressure vessels, tubing or piping systems, heat exchangers, liners, \ufb02ue-gas desulphurization systems and many other industrial components. Continuous service temperatures can reach up to 800\u00b0F (427\u00b0C) with occasional, intermittent service at 1000\u00b0F (538\u00b0C).<\/p>\n<h5>Material Specifications:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>UNS R50400<\/li>\n<li>W. Nr. 3.7035<\/li>\n<li>TiGr2<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>TITANIUM GRADE 5<\/h4>\n<p align=\"left\">Grade 5 Titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) is the most common alloy of Titanium, around the 50% of total titanium usage the world over.\u00a0<strong>Ti-6Al-4V<\/strong>\u00a0contains 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium for added strength. Ti 6AL-4V is high strength (up to 1100 MPa), light weight, and corrosion resistant, making it an excellent choice for demanding fastener applications,\u00a0in different sectors; finally Grade 5 Titanium is definitely the most versatile titanium alloy and the best alternative to Grade 2.<\/p>\n<h5>Material Specifications:<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"textheaders\">UNS R56400<\/li>\n<li class=\"textheaders\">W.
